I have self-confidence enough in myself; a knowledge of my own worth, a
belief in the power of my own brain to learn the many things I don’t
know yet, and the evidence from my own life to know I can survive in
this world - and even prosper in it - on my own.
I do not need to be liked by everyone; I am happy that those people who
do like me, do so for the qualities I possess - and no longer hide for
fear of being thought ‘too proud’. Qualities such as strength,
perseverance, and intelligence; which are qualities I am glad to find in
my friends.
I believe in dignity, respect, and a sense of personal responsibility. I
don’t believe in whinging, backbiting, or gossip; I’ve yet to see them
produce any worthwhile result. Hard work and the willingness to learn,
however, do - in everything from relationships, to religion, to career.
And gardening.
I have a dry sense of the ridiculous - and this website makes me grin
every time I revisit it. So I should like to be a part of it. If a human
being who believes that survival is not a right, but a privilege to be
earned every day is not a new form of life on this site, then it’s
lovely to meet you, fellow Heartless Bitches.
