I don't ask a partner for things that I am not willing to try to take care of myself. This applies in domestic and professional situations. Wether it is disposing of a dead rat found in the attic or managing my fiannces, I make it a rule for myself to do everyting I can towards goals that matter to me (ie., a maggot-free attic and financial security). My feeling good about seeking help, support, guidance requires that I exhaust my personal resources first. This way I know I own my successes and my failures. Even in personal sexual fullfilment I take responsibitly. Sure, sex is more fun with a partner, but you will never please me if I don't bother to know myself first and then directly show you the way.
