and Damned Proud of it!

Agnieszka

I came across this idea recently that women lead their lives as "romantic narratives" thinking of their life in terms of relationships to other people, especially romantic relationships, and measuring their success in life by the success they achieve in romance. A career or other personal accomplishments are tangential.

I suppose that's probably true for a lot of people and it was probably true for me during some stupid parts of my life.

But if I ever do that again, I hope to God my friends slap me silly and tell me to snap the fuck out of it if I don't notice it myself first.

I am a Heartless Bitch because I put my creative writing and career first. Anyone who gets romantically involved with me better have their own life, because they aren't going to be the center of mine. I love my friends; I love my work, and I don't put up with controlling bullshit from anyone. I like sex and I'm not afraid to go after men who catch my fancy--but I'd rather hand over my paycheck to Toys in Babeland and Good Vibrations than sleep with some spineless whiner I can't respect.

Yes! I want to read more from Real Life Heartless Bitches
