I'm a Heartless Bitch because while I recognize the need to stand up for myself and aggressively pursue my dreams, I also understand that sometimes a person chases a selfish desire with the same aggressive fervor. I know that it can be hard to distinguish between a worthy desire and a selfish one, that these issues are seldom black-and-white, and the fact that I refuse to pretend that they are just to keep myself in a state of ignorant rationalization also makes me a Heartless Bitch.
Another one of my heartlessly bitchy qualities is that I am completely honest with people, but I also know how to be tactful, which makes a world of difference. I cant stand people who are rude but use the defense that they are "keeping it real." Ummmm....right...like anyone gets very far in the real world by riding the roughshod over everyone they come in contact with. I also do NOT hesitate to tell a person when they are in the wrong or being unfair, this quality has gotten me in trouble with some stubborn, pedantic teachers. Yet, I do it anyway because my mother and father taught me to always stand up for myself and what I believe in. They taught me not to judge other people, and not to be crass when involved in a debate.
In closing, I am a Heartless Bitch because, unlike most other American 16 year old boys, I have LISTENED to my parents, profited from it, and I KNOW that I am not at all less of a man, less creative, or any less independent for having done so.
I am a Heartless Bitch because while I respect my parents and their opinion, I know when to disagree and I do so in a civil manner. I am a Heartless Bitch because I have come out of the closet and openly admit to being a gay male in this homophobic society, but I hold my head up high and ignore the insults because I know that the people who make fun of me are trash who are not worth my time. If someone REALLY gets in my face, I straighten up and tell them "Would you talk to me later when you have some class?" just like my grandma taught me.
In closing, I am a Heartless Bitch because while I may be close to my family, I am NOT mentally or emotionally dependent on them.
