Mel
I'd like to think I'm a Heartless Bitch ("think" being the operative
word) because I have no sympathy or time for individuals who cannot
reciprocate intelligent conversation, or waste their breath trying to
convince me that they are indeed intelligent by using bombastic
vocabulary. It totally irks me to hear the phrase "big words." Example:
"You think you're so smart just because you know all the big words.
Well, it's not so smart if people can't understand you!" (I could rant
forever on that topic alone.)
I also believe that formal education has no bearing on the intelligence
of any person. As Mark Twain said, "Never let formal education get in
the way of your learning." People who use their degrees or educational
achievements as a front to gain respect do not gain my respect until
they can prove that they can apply their knowledge, and fully comprehend
what they say, and do not just regurgitate their college text books
verbatim during discussions. A person can have years and years of
schooling, and still have no understanding of what it means to be
intelligent. Sadly, tuition does not include common sense.
