I have seen people who are inspirational leaders and steadfast friends,
but I have also seen those who either go get drunk and get laid every
weekend, or proclaim to the world that men/women are useless, stupid,
misogynistic/man-hating assholes and everyone would be better off
without them. I have seen people avert their eyes when I state my
opinions, and back down from any discussion of differing ideas. I'm
proud of who I am, and I am strong, intelligent, independent, and
outspoken. I stand up for what I believe in, and I won't tolerate
whining/crying/blaming. I realize that there are people out there who
are ignorant, abusive, stupid, assholes, and that almost anyone can be
fooled once. But if you never stand up for yourself, if you allow people
to walk on you one after another, you deserve what you get. Don't whine
to me that people suck, that you're tired of being abused, that everyone
on the planet hates you, and that your life is worthless. You're not an
innocent victim; you're a professional doormat. If you don't like it,
don't lie on the floor covered in dirt. You make your own happiness. If
you're miserable, it's up to you to do something about it, not your
parents, not your significant other, and not your friends.
I am sick of hearing people whine because they've spent their life
pinning all their happiness on someone else, and for some unknown reason
they're still miserable. I won't listen to it, and I certainly won't
sympathize with it. Grow up and take responsibility for yourself. Get an
identity and don't compromise.
I take responsibility for myself and my actions, I make my own
happiness, I work hard at my job, and I do things myself. I expect
others to do the same. For all those reasons, I'm proud to be a
Heartless Bitch.
