I recently ended a common-law relationship. I was tired of supporting my boyfriend. (He was employed when I first met him.) He had been unemployed for 8 months. He ignored my repeated requests for him to find a job, any job. I finally realized that things were not going to change. I told him that I was going to move out, as soon as I found a suitable townhouse or condo to purchase.

He didn't believe me. He was astonished when I announced (3 months later) that I was moving out of our apartment. I moved the last of my items out of our apartment on December 25th.

I have no patience for women (or men) who won't take responsibility for their own errors in judgment.

Treat your experience as an expensive lesson. Just walk away and move on with your life. Like I did.

Your partner is not your psychotherapist. Your happiness, sense of self-esteem, sense of self-worth is your responsibility -- no one else's!
