I stood up and cheered at the Andrea Yates verdict today. I'm glad that the women and men on the jury felt that a woman should be held accountable for her actions. If you cut your husbands' penis off, you should be punished. If you drown your children by driving your car into a lake, you should be punished. I am heartless because I am tired of women and men being held to different standards and then the differences in those standards being used to justify lower pay, keeping women out of higher political offices, and perpetuation of the idea that women are the eternal victim. The worst has to be the women who use the double-standard of society when they've done something terrible and don't want to be held accountable.

On another subject, I am heartless because I don't believe that women were created to be in submission to their husbands. We have lost several friends because I choose not to be quiet about the subject and will not raise my daughter along side little girls of her age who are being raised only to marry, and raise good sons.
