Apparently I am a defective model of the female, courtesy of my capacity for self reliance and inability to take others shit. I am in a field of study dominated by men, but so are a damn lot of women. I don't believe whinging about it will change the daily attempts to subvert our confidence in our right to be in that course. It is amazing how silencing slamming the misogyny back down the pipeline to its source is. Without a voice you truly are weak. But you are weak for the worst reason when you choose to silence yourself. I have a voice; I use it. No one is going to step in for you and fight your battles unless you learn how to do for yourself. Sometimes I am rude and loud and crass, but I stand on my terms. I am not the most popular woman and I don't want to be. I have dignity, I have self-respect and I am not asked to clean the benches after the guys.
