I just don't let people get in my way and I don't apologize for that. I'm tired of all the dependents I see out there. I equate "easy way" with "unhappiness" most of the time. I really can't relate to people who take the easy way out when it costs them their happiness. I started noticing this in college. I couldn't believe how many people would choose a course of study to please their parents so they didn't have to pay for it themselves. The really good things in life must be worked for. Self-esteem comes from achievements and healthy choices.
I've gotten myself exactly to this spot. It's all up to me and no one else. I own my problems and my successes. I only need myself. I don't let myself be a victim.
