I am a Heartless Bitch because I refuse to smile constantly just to put people at ease. It's not that I frown; I just don't walk around like some grinning imbecile all the time. It seems that our phallocentric society expects a female to keep a smile plastered to her face while in a public setting, and I find this to be just ridiculous. I have been approached by total strangers who had the audacity to tell me "SMILE! It can't be THAT bad!" I usually reply "Well, it just DID get that bad when a complete stranger feels a need to tell me what kind of facial expression I should be wearing. I am not some decoration, don't treat me like one."
