I'm a Heartless Bitch because I've spent my whole life standing up to people who wanted to keep me down just because I was different from them. I grew up in a conservative black family that was ruled by my tyrannical and physically abusive grandmother. Every day all I heard was: "How come you can't just go along and say yes ma'am?" or "How come you have to argue your side? Can't you just let her have the last say?" Then to top it off, as I grew into my true self, it just made things harder. But I fought and fought and stayed true to who I really am. Everyone, and I mean everyone, in my family, to this day, hides who they really are. There was something inside of me that would not let pretend to be this weak little thing that just goes along with everything just because it would make it easier for me. Even now as an adult woman with two bi-racial children I have to stand up for myself and my family everyday against closed-minded, prejudiced people. Black and white, but mostly from my own culture. I will not let the opinions of those ignorant people stop me from being happy and bringing happiness to my children. Being a bitch is the only way I know how to stay true and honest to myself.
