I've stopped caring so much about what others think of me. I give respect and expect it in return, but maintain it only so long as it's deserved. I take responsibility for my actions, and I hold others responsible for theirs. I know the difference between anger and hate. I know the difference between constructive criticism and destructive criticism. I'd rather leave a bad situation than stay in it for the sake of appearances. If I have to stay, I make the best of it and take it head on.

I know that taking care of yourself can take a lot out of you, but if you leave it to someone else, you're that much worse off. I also know that taking care of someone else's problems (unless you gave birth to that person within the past few years) is too much of a drain and too much of a trap.
