I quit a rotten job among small-minded, greedy people and moved back to my old hometown. I remodeled an old barn into an apartment with a 20-foot ceiling and a spiral staircase up to my bed in the loft. It's the first house that I've ever had the way I wanted it in 60 years. I wake often at 3 a.m. and watch old, classic movies. Or I get on my computer and just surf. I can't find a job doing what I am skilled at, so I've rented out my small house next door and applied for early Social Security, so that I don't have to work at Wal-Mart to pay my Internet server. I visit only people I like, and resist the pressure to "work at the church" except for projects I really think worthwhile. I detest any form of intolerance and refuse to merely "nod acquiescence" when people talk stupidly or maliciously about others who are different. I can read until sunrise, or choose to have nothing but red beans and crackers for dinner.

If this is not fairly close to "Being In Total Control, Honey," then I don't understand the meaning of the words.
