I've decided to put years of complaining about the lack of clothing for women size 14 and over into practice by establishing an online activist group. In just one year of operation, we accrued 1000 members, and we have made a healthy community of like-minded women. Our website informs each other of the size discrimination present in the media, we act on examples through letter writing campaigns, and we buy from and promote people/companies who believe that plus size women are just as interested in looking and feeling great as those who are straight sized.
I refuse to be told that because I am a plus sized woman I am unattractive and "obviously" must lead an unhealthy lifestyle. Our group will empower women to reward those companies who don't buy into this message. We celebrate women at any size!
