I don't pretend to agree with the popular opinion when the rest of my logic screams that the popular opinion is wrong. I'm a 21-year-old woman who is not afraid to use the word "feminist" to describe myself. I eat pizza and beer with chocolate cake for dessert without saying, "I really should not be eating this...." I call teachers on gender bias in the classroom. I don't wear makeup, despite constant criticism from my mother. I am a pro-choice volunteer for Planned Parenthood. I belong to the only feminist organization at the University of Northern Colorado. I have helped fight to get funding for that organization. My nails are chipped; who cares? I have taken a vow to never wear anything uncomfortable again (i.e.: pantyhose), and have stuck to that vow. When someone calls me a dyke, I say thanks. When someone calls me a bitch, I say, "You're very observant." I refuse to be intimidated.
