I won't sit passively like a good little girl if an issue I disagree with arises; I value my principles more than the overrated opinions of strangers. I may have been taught that an opinionated girl is an unpopular girl, but I have never been able to fathom why this rule does not also apply to men. Although I never try to force an unshared view onto another being, I cannot tolerate being told to shut up merely because of my sex. Whilst gender roles and boundaries are necessary to some degree, I don't believe that they should also stretch to intelligence. The view expressed validates the opinion, not the individual expressing the opinion. I am not a man-hater, merely a censorship hater.
