I am my own person no matter what! If you don't like me, fine. Realize,
however, that it is YOUR problem and I am not obligated to-nor will
I-change to be someone you are comfortable with. I have a brain that I
am not afraid to use. This means that I will continue to add my voice to
class discussions despite the outright vicious remarks that are made by
the men in the classroom.
"Shut up bitch! I wanna get out early!"
Response:"Why not leave now?"
"Oh not that feminist crap again!"
Response:" I'll stop with the feminist crap when the world is not defined completely in masculine terms. Until that happens kiss my ass."
Or my favorite:"How come you always know the answers ,huh?!"
"I study my ass off and come to class prepared to discuss the material. It helps."
I will not cut people slack for self-inflicted boo-boos. If you make bad
choices, then suffer in silence because I don't want to hear how
horrible the world has been to you. Actions, or lack thereof, beget
consequences. Bad, stupid, or irresponsible actions will bring
unpleasant consequences. Try learning from your mistakes instead of
repeating them.
If we want a better world it is up to us to create it. I
create my world everyday by refusing to tolerate what I could change
instead. That includes standing up for myself instead of meekly taking
whatever crap someone feels like dishing out. I am not nor will I ever
be anybody's emotional snotrag. If you try to make me yours be prepared
for one vicious fight--which you will lose. I provide for myself, and I
am an independent person. I do not need anyone to "take care" of me. I
could do that when I left home. That's why I left.
