It took me four years to figure out what I wanted to do. I went straight from high school to college. I got myself on academic probation more than once.

I dated for the first time. It hurt a lot, figuring out that I didn't want sex, and telling the guy that. I didn't ever hear from him again.

I had no clue.

People I loved died. Got married. Had babies. I started skipping classes.

And then one day I decided, "I've had enough of this shit." I had to work really hard to get out the rather sizable hole I had dug for myself. But I'm out, and I intend to stay out. I know what I want now, and how to get it. No one is going to stop me.

So that's why I'm a Heartless Bitch. Not because I never messed up, but rather because I messed up so badly. I learned who I was that way. I learned that I'm strong, smart, talented, and that I care. I learned who loves me, who cares.

As a final note, that's also why I'm choosing to apply for membership. It's not because I need a card to tell me who I am, I already know that, but because I'd like to belong to a group that also knows who they are individually and collectively.
