Michael
I suppose my intolerance of stupidity would be a
good place to start. Morons piss me off, and I don't
hesitate to say so. (In fact, one guy went on a date
with me just to tell me that he didn't want a
relationship with me because I'm too bitchy. I
promptly subjected him to a lengthy tirade on the
virtues of bitchiness.) I even had to give my own
sister a lecture on the difference between feminism
and man-hating. Family or not, ignorance is
totally unacceptable in my eyes.
I've also had to tell off more than my fair share of
assholes who thought that their good looks (and, in
some cases, their incredible intellects) were
sufficient to make me fall immediately in love with
them. (I'm sorry, but I'm just not comfortable with
the thought of a relationship with you...I'm afraid
that your ego would start to feel like a third wheel.)
I just want to strangle the sorority chicks who get
drunk and act like sluts, as well as the stupid frat
guys who think that this slutty behavior is an excuse
for them to act like pigs.
I publicly express feminist views and support women's
rights, and I don't give a flying fuck if people call
me gay for doing so. (For the record, though, I'm bi,
and I don't care how people feel about that, either.)
I won't let anyone force me into a stereotype, and I
frequently step out of "character" just to get people's
panties in a bunch.
I hate people who believe stereotypes to be the Gospel
truth, and I loathe the people who are responsible
for the stereotypes in the first place.
I hate it when I tell people that I'm on a diet and
they respond "Oh, but you look fine!" It's my health
that I'm worried about, dammit! (At the same time,
though, I'm one of the few considerate fat people who
have enough decency not to parade around in a Speedo.
Those people gross me out.)
Most importantly, against the wishes of my parents and
the advice of several professors, I have decided to
devote my life to writing about various forms of
injustice, particularly regarding women, as well as
racial and sexual minorities. I am already writing
a thesis on women in Southern society, and I intend
to devote my entire academic life to the struggle for
equality.
