I am in control of my life, I do not whine about it. No matter how bad it gets, I've only myself to blame for allowing it to happen to me. Nobody can make me--or you--do anything.
You have a choice. Choose wisely or suffer in silence, because I don't want to hear you cry about it.
My Dissertation on Whining and Whiners: If you have not attempted to change a bad situation, then you have no right to whine about it. Concurrently, if you're working to change a bad situation, stop whining and get to work! Whining does not help you focus on your problems, it merely distracts you from working on them and postpones your goal of change. Do not whine unless you have tried and failed. If you have tried and failed, don't whine. Try again. Focus on another course of action that will enable you to reach your goal. If that doesn't work, try something else. If that doesn't work, then the problem isn't the situation you're in, the problem is YOU.
One of my favorite movie quotes is from "A Fish Called Wanda". Wanda has just reached the point of taking all the brainless machismo she can take from Otto and is telling him off.
Otto: "Don't call me stupid."
Wanda: "Oh, right! To call you stupid would be an insult to stupid people! I've known sheep that could outwit you. I've worn dresses with higher I.Q.s, but you think you're an intellectual, don't you, ape?"
Otto (smirking): "Apes don't read philosophy."
Wanda: "Yes, they do, Otto, they just don't understand it."
And finally, Tank Girl is my hero!
Yes! I want to read more from Real Life Heartless Bitches
