After growing up shy, repressed, bright and not popular, and being dumped for not putting out, I have finally begun to come into my own. I have quietly and courageously lived my convictions and ethical standards, dared to grow and change. I stand firmly for sexual freedom which includes the freedom of choice to say "no" and to choose when not to reproduce. I stand firmly for religious tolerance and freedom of religion, which includes freedom from enforced religion. I have been dumped for not putting out, even by someone in whom I was interested, because my values don't allow for sex by coercion. Somehow I have prevailed - finally - with self-esteem and deep values that I live, rather than just talk about. I have seen my female peers make national headlines over their terror of never getting married once over age 30, while I finally dared to consider myself wise and courageous for having never married. Neither have I ruled it out. I dare to be childfree and demand that the media make themselves more relevant to me. I still quietly live my ethics and convictions, but sometimes now I am not so quiet any more.

I like my wood to be like my character: solid, not a veneer.
