I've finally figured out that I'm responsible for my own happiness, and I'm not going to let anyone stand in my way. When the last loser I was involved with told me to get another asshole to help me pay my bills (I made twice the money he did) I threw him out and took control of my own life. Now I'm happier than I've ever been. I see who I want when I want, and I'm not waiting for some other person to make me whole. I've worked in a man's world for over 30 years, and I've had to eat a lot of shit to get where I'm at now. I've learned to give as good as I get and nobody messes with me anymore. I constantly have to tell some of my weaker friends to stop pissing and moaning and get a clue as to what's wrong with their lives, i.e. abusive mates, dead end jobs, etc. People can only walk on you if you are a doormat.
