Because I am proud to call myself a feminist even though the media considers it an anachronism these days.

I am fed up with women constantly being judged on their looks. If I don't want to wear make-up every day or shave my legs and armpits then why should I get comments about it. My boyfriend can go out looking like a complete mess why shouldn't I? On the other hand if I feel like dressing up then I should be able to walk down the street without getting hassled or hit on.

In this country (UK) many women are still in low paid jobs or expected to be secretaries. Women who do well are not taken seriously, for example there was an influx of new woman MP's at the last election and they became known as "Blair's babes". Housekeeping and cooking are STILL assumed to be women's concerns yet all the top chefs are men (we have a huge cult of TV chefs at the moment and all except one are men, and while many of the men are trendy types the woman, Delia Smith is a mumsy person). I should just explain that I can't cook and don't intend to learn, and I don't feel that men can't cook (I know many men who are miles better than me) or be celebrity chefs but where are the women on the telly? Some discrepancy there methinks!
