I grew up with my head in a bucket of sand, and I've finally started to dig myself out. I was raised a Christian and used to swallow all the "women must be submissive" bullshit. So, after kidding myself for all these years, my sanity finally snapped and I tossed the whole religion thing -- I'm now an atheist. I've still got a lot to learn, but I do know that being meek is really bad for anyone's state of mind!

It's impossible to make everybody happy, and being nice all the time means that pushy and sleazy people walk all over you. I really regret the day I met a distant cousin (we were both 15) who tried to feel me up and followed me into the bathroom -- I really regret not having the guts then to break his fucking jaw!!

Perhaps something that helped me along the way was doing a great self-defense course for women, which turns fear into anger and teaches women that we belong to ourselves and -nobody- has any right to treat us like shit. (I think the most pathetic image is a woman feeling sympathy for her whining rapist.)

Heartless Bitches are the best kind of women. We're not threatening to men, only to assholes.
