I am sick of men thinking they have ANYTHING to hold over me. I'm 21 years old, aware that I am powerful, can do anything I want, don't need a man to make me happy, and am *gasp* intelligent! I can't owe it all to her, but my mother has set the example for me of a true heartless bitch.

Her inspiration has taught me that, not only can I achieve anything I aim for, I can do it better than any man. I can't believe that, because I'm not afraid to win a game, speak up in class, or go to Pride Alliance (gay/straight/trans) meetings to offer support, I'm considered pushy, forward or butch. Damn it, I'm the only one who can satisfy myself and that's what I plan on doing. Rather than giving in, I'm saying a big 'fuck you' to everyone who has been surprised that, as a female, I am knowledgeable about music, can use tools, understand electronics and basic wiring, and God forbid, have the clock set on my VCR! I can't stand women who hide their talents or brush them aside when recognized.

I take pride in what I can do and wish all women would. Hey, let it come off as a beauty pageant answer, but if every woman would take pride in her achievements and not step down from praise, we'd all be the better for it.
