I work with a group of men of the high testosterone variety - Active Duty Military personnel, assigned to a predominantly male college developing officer leadership for a predominantly male organization - the US Army! These individuals profess to be brave, courageous leaders who can and have lead "men" into battle and work harder and smarter than any other member of the human species. Bullshit. The biggest cowards, slobs and stupid idiots I have ever met are within this organization! One of the highest ranking members of this group has stated frequently, and used as a "recruiting tool" the phrase - "You don't have to be smart to be in the Army!" Well here I sit, managing and subverting everything they do, without their knowledge, and laughing up my sleeve. Why, you might ask, do I remain here? Well, I am a single parent whose daughter is attending this predominantly male college at no at no cost to her, or me, as long as I remain in this employment situation. However, by the time she has been graduated and the need for this tuition assistance exists no longer, I'll be too old to be marketable in another employment situation, and will have too many years invested in my retirement system to make it fiscally wise to move on. I'm bitter because I'm trapped within this organization of stupid male people doing some of the most stupid things that stupid people do! Pray for me.
