I was at a dinner party last year-- just four twenty-somethings hanging out. In the midst of a discussion on books, Dana pulled a book out of her bag. "You have *got* to read this," she said. "It makes *so much sense*."

It was *The Rules*.

I was at work, and listening to a co-worker talk about her latest jerk-off boyfriend. The only thing differentiating him from her last, is his name. Her thing is, Oh, poor me. I have such awful luck.

I was at dinner with a couple of guy friends. One of them had just been dumped by his fiancée of four years. He is now treating women like trash. He's become rude, nasty, and spiteful. His rationale is, one woman has hurt me, and so all the others owe me.

As a result of things like this, I've decided the hell with it. I'm not going to get mad. I'm not going to get even. I'm just going to laugh about it. I'll save my rhetoric and energy for politics.
