Sarah
I'm independent, intelligent, ambitious and fiery. I'm unafraid to voice my opinions however different to the norm or possibly unpopular. I'm strong enough in my sense of self that I'm quite happy to be the odd person out without feeling victimised or vulnerable. I've managed to use my offbeat views and interpretations to my advantage by writing a PhD (currently a work in progress) where it helps to think along alternative lines.
I take responsibility for myself and my actions and get frustrated with others who refuse to do so. I have no time for whingers (ferchrissakes, take some action, sort it out), procrastinators, liars, manipulative types, guilt trips and anyone too easily swayed by guilt trips. As a feminist I get mightily sick of a) other so-called feminists who for some bizarre reason hate men, and b) those who assume that my feminism means I hate men. I don't. Men, on the whole, are great. As are women. Dumb people however, not so much.
I've been through some difficult times in life, but who hasn't? As the old wartime adage goes 'Keep calm and carry on'. I'm happy to be a total contradiction to people: a feminist/queer theorist who likes baking and sewing; a quiet studious academic who loves to party until dawn; an intelligent blonde. I think the most important thing you can equip yourself with in life is a sense of humour - it'll give you the balls to stick up for yourself and the ability to see the lighter side when someone pisses you off.
