My best friend just sent me the link to this site, and while reading down the front page, I realized it all applied to me. I believe I complete me; I'm realistic about life. Books like Twilight absolutely disgust me because it's setting up young girls for disappointment. There are facebook groups about how no man will be good enough, because they want Edward Cullen. This really, really bothers me because from what I've heard about the series, the main character Bella, pretty much gives up on life when Edward leaves. She's incapable of being her own person and basically gives up her life for him.
Jessica Simpson is the embodiment of what's wrong with American women. She uses her sexuality to get ahead and enforces the dumb blonde stereotype endlessly. What's more, whenever she has a boyfriend, she goes on and on about how he 'saved' her and how now she feels 'complete'. Honestly, if you can't fulfill yourself, investing yourself in someone else and expecting somebody-who probably will not be there forever, believe it on not-to make you whole is just setting yourself up for disappointment. And she does it again and again.
I don't think being realistic makes me cynical, but it definitely doesn't hurt. I'm probably overly-opinionated, but I'm okay with that because it's much better than not voicing what I believe in. And if being able to form my own opinions and speak my mind makes me a Bitch, so be it.
