More times there I can remember I have heard "oh, you don't look like that type of girl/woman/person". I am proud I don't. I never want to have to prove myself or proclaim who I am on a t-shirt, and if you think you know me by first impression I know that you don't. I'll knock your ass down in derby, but I will buy you a drink after the bout. I have been vegetarian most of my life, it's not a trend, it's compassion. My ex knows if he needs me I am just a phone call away, but he also knows I will never tell him my new address. I would rather spend a night alone with a book than in a bar full of strangers feeling lonely. Finally, my straight-laced boring-ass money-hungry bosses have no clue the year off from school on my resume was spent homeless in another country. If only they knew my "resourcefulness and ingenuity" were born of necessity and survival. Oh transferable skills! They wouldn't of made it through a day!
