I'm a Heartless Bitch because I say what I think, using the language I think is most appropriate. Sometimes, that means approaching a topic with thoughtful analysis. Smart people can disagree, and my fellow Heartless Bitches deserve to have their ideas respectfully considered. Other times, it means dismissing dumb ideas with a little bit of Bitchy sarcasm. After all, wasting my valuable time painstakingly analyzing the details of an obnoxious viewpoint every reasonable person already knows is bullshit isn't something I'm particularly interested in (even if it's fun occasionally). Regardless of the language my ideas are couched in, I try to make clear, cogent remarks.
I'm comfortable admitting that I generally think I'm right. I don't know how else a person could go through life without some serious cognitive dissonance - if YOU don't think you're right, how can you expect anyone else to? However, this doesn't mean I'm unwilling to reconsider when someone demonstrates that there's a flaw in my logic. I'm human, and I screw up just like everyone else. The point of presuming I'm right is to take responsibility for the validity of the thoughts I express. It means that I trust myself and my experiences, and that I don't shy away from expressing conclusions that I think are correct. I expect the same from other people, and think that one of the best ways of showing respect to a person is to be honest with them even when my perspective is different from theirs. What's the point of a discussion if everyone is too afraid to defend what they think?
I judge people based on the character they display in their words and actions. This means that I have a problem with anyone who's sexist, racist, homophobic, or otherwise an asshole to a person who hasn't earned it. An individual should be defined by their own personal traits, not by arbitrary stereotypes of a group they belong to. That said, everyone is shaped by the background they come from, and it's good to be able to admit the biases you were raised with so that you can overcome them.
I routinely Bitch out bigots, ninnies, tattletales, abusers, jerks who lack basic human decency, Twilight fans, people without a sense of humour, and anyone who doesn't appreciate 60s icons with enough fervour. There's considerable overlap between all those categories, of course, and that list is far from exhaustive.
