As a recovering Nice Girl, I like people of acumen and dignity because they teach me to call myself on bullshit. To call myself- to build my own mental resources from my reading and my conversations, not go running back to my models for affirmation. Friends who call you out are awesome, and that can happen on the internet: advice from people who have no distorting pre-conceptions can be useful. For the love of god why, though, do almost all online fora descend into spirals of mutual nurturing and clinging? I'm here for a break.

I bring to the table a healthy set of boundaries, snarkiness fostered by an adolescence on the internet, and a spirit of endless curiosity and wonder about how people can fuck up so hard and so often with so little self-awareness.
