For starters, I take responsibility for the impact my decisions have on my own life. I live on my own, am financially independent, and am happy with who I am.

I know how to shoulder a burden and push through bullshit without having my goals compromised. I don't expect anyone to do anything for me, but show appreciation and gratitude (rather than indebtedness) if someone helps. I find it extremely frustrating having conversations with people who don't have a basic grasp of logical fallacies, who refuse to educate themselves about the world around them, and who prefer oblivion to awareness.
