If it pleases the board, I'll supply an example: After myself,
boyfriend and female roommate were followed down a dark back alley by four male
"catcallers" to my urban apartment entrance one evening, I decided that I wasn't
going to accept being called a slut repeatedly for having the audacity to be out
in the evening, female, and dressed. I turned around and began to lecture
the increasingly apologetic ringleader about the inappropriateness and
threatening tone of their comments and actions. All four of them left, and
I'm pretty sure the ringleader was sufficiently convinced to give up catcalling
for good, thus sparing others in the future.
I later apologized to my boyfriend (now my husband) for putting him in a
spot, as in my anger it had not occurred to me that we were in some danger,
should they have turned violent. Heartless Bitches take responsibility for their
own actions.
