3 years ago, I was the quintessential All American stay at home mom. Husband of almost 20 years, 4 kids, house in the suburbs, dog.. oh, and did I mention I was blissfully pregnant with child number 5? Then dear old hubby goes on a drug induced mid-life binge, that included leaving us for a 23 year old. I found myself in my late 30's, homeless, vehicle-less, and somehow trying to take care of 4.5 kids! With no family to fall back on, we ended up living in a shelter when the baby was born. Without going into the sordid detail, I am very proud to say that the kids and I banded together and figured it out. Fast forward to now.. we have our own home and I am in my second year of college, working on my bachelors degree in nursing. My kids are doing great and we are very happy! We, as a family discovered a strength we didn't know we had. And even though we've been through hell, we have chosen not to become perpetual victims. Instead we choose to be strong, independent, survivors. My teenage daughters especially, and I, know in our hearts, that no matter what curveballs life throws our way, we WILL be ok! We are proud to call ourselves tough Bitches!
