Firstly, I would like to say that I think this site is great.
It's nice to see woman who are comfortable with what they are and I would like
to tell you why I think I can be a valuable member. What you are going to
read is an abridged description of my life intertwined with subtle rants about
the elements of society that piss me off:
Firstly, I am a woman. Secondly, I live a life that is perhaps
outside of the norm and I'm proud of it. I live out of a backpack for most
of the year, but I have worked for everything I own ­ which is admittedly,
not that much. I am educated. I have 2 degrees to prove it.
And I have made the educated decision not to use them right now. My life
is traveling and meeting people and seeing everything ­ the wonders that
most people don't get to see in their entire lives. I have been all over
the world and still have a lot more ground to cover before I can even think
about stopping. I work in Alaska in the summers and I love my job so
people* should stop asking me when I will start working in my 'chosen
profession.' There is nothing wrong with not having a 9 ­-to-5 gig and
for today, this is my chosen profession. And they* should stop asking me
when I'm going to settle down. I'll get to it eventually. Not every
woman needs a man and three kids and the house in a good school district to make
her happy. Don't get me wrong - I love men, but for long term purposes, I
want a man who can match me - not someone I settle for because it's better than
being alone. I have met great men and I know they exist so I will find
(never wait for) one of them. Kids would be nice. So would
dogs. Dogs especially. Sometimes I wonder if it will be a man or a
dog to make me settle down.
This is my life and my mindset. I am an adult. I am strong
woman. I know that I am good and beautiful and I don't need to be told
­ that's confidence, not conceit. I am an independent woman. I
will do who and what I please in life and that is why I am a Heartless
Bitch.
And fear not, there are plenty more issues that I feel strongly about so if
you feel that you have not been satisfactorily Bitched at, by all means let me
know!
*The terms 'people' and 'they' refer to both people I know personally and
complete strangers who like to interject their beliefs into my
life.
