I am a Heartless Bitch because I reject the negative stereotypes and
patriarchal roles that have been forced upon women, of virgin/whore or
mother/wife/daughter. The first because it is based on not fornicating or
fornicating while at the same time denying a woman her rightful sexuality, and
the second because it defines a female based upon a relationship with someone
else, not upon themselves.
A Heartless Bitch has found herself, defined herself, and defined what she
wants from herself and her life. This I have done.
I am a Heartless Bitch because I am self-defined as opposed to
other-defined. I am independent, connected with myself, I refuse to take
shit from anyone, and I refuse to be seen and not heard.
I am a Heartless Bitch because I am self-centered. I have made myself
the subject of my life, not the object. I live for my self. I am
self-oriented.
I am a Heartless Bitch because I do not "do" melodrama. I am not
afraid to use my strengths nor am I willing to compromise on my principles.
I am a Heartless Bitch because while I embrace my femininity, it is a mask
to wear, much like any other tool. If it is useful, I will use it, but if
it is not, I will use something else, such as assertiveness or
aggressiveness. I do reject the social limitations of my femininity.
