My experiences in college so far have really begun to deepen an
already present hatred for misogyny, both that employed as a power game by men
and a source of false empowerment by women.
It sickens me that smart women cut themselves short just to please a man or
fit an ideal of "what women should be." I also get the urge to punch every man
who has ever told me that I was too smart or too serious just because I have
goals in life and don't want to sleep with him. I am annoyed by men at both ends
of the power spectrum: the patriarchal macho man and the wimpy psycho emotional
leech.
I have my own personality and don't need to be any man's arm candy, nor do
I need an emotional child to cater to day and night. I am not a man hater, I
just think that very few men (or women for that matter) have healthy attitudes
about relationships and the opposite gender. So many people (especially women)
define themselves by relationships instead of developing their own lives. I
think that women should be able to comfortably live without needing to be either
for men or one of them. Strong, powerful, feminine women are still rare but I
aim to be one of them.
