I'm a Bitch because I try to be (or at least act like) an honest-to-God grownup. I'm still on the 12-step, one-day-at-a-time approach to Responsible Adulthood. Being a whiny pain in the ass and expecting the world to take care of you characterizes childhood, and being a teenager wasn't enough fun for me to want to stay that way forever. I don't lie, I don't play games, and I don't assume that everything will work out for the best. I screw up and backslide, but I admit to it and try to repair any damage.

I'm Heartless because I don't accept from other people the shit I won't tolerate in myself. It's important to cultivate Bitchhood before Heartlessness -- otherwise you're just a hypocritical asshole.

So if I'm such a strong, self-sufficient woman, why am I looking for validation from strangers? Two reasons: I want to read the BitchBoard, and I *really* want the membership card.
