Today, I ripped living plants from the ground in my garden to make room for new ones next spring. It was like a garden abortion in favor of newer, better things to come. To be fair, the plants I ripped out were DONE for this season...they weren't blooming again and would die anyway. Still, I had some 'splaining to do with my children, who'd toiled with me last spring to get those plants in there. They definitely thought I was a Heartless Bitch today.

Okay, so I'm not an ogre of Bitchiness. I just don't put up with any shit. If it's done, I'm done with it. This applies all across my life, not just in gardening. The best tool anyone can have is a set of shears. They are great for pruning all kinds of crap out of your life.

I figure you have to kill a few plants to learn how to grow them...or build some crappy shit to learn how to build good stuff...or, well, you get the idea.
