I'm a Dutch physical chemist. I've lived most of my life in France and I'm now doing a post-doctoral internship in the US.

Relationship-wise, I've indeed had two bad relationships, a long time ago, and I have since remained single. I used to have a strong tendency to attach myself to people who were not so much interested in me as in how I could serve them. I got better, though, and nowadays I back away when I realise the friendship is more likely to bring me sorrow than joy.

My bullshit-meter is definitively on, even if it's a bit slow, and I don't suffer dishonesty and self-pitying gladly. I try, as much as possible, to solve my problems on my own, and I don't like it when people think that means I'll solve their problems. I'm glad to help, but I have limits.

I would like to join Heartless Bitches because I enjoyed your rants and articles so much (even if I don't agree with all of them, and I think some of them are a bit over the top) that I would like to read more and join the discussions.
