I was raised to be a "godly" (submissive) woman. Then my "godly" husband abused me and my children, so I kicked him out. I decided that equality was the way to go and remarried a man who said he believe that. Turns out, what that really means is that I could only wield power if he agreed to it. I've come to realize that's unacceptable. I am responsible for what happens in my life, in my house, to me and to my children. I've decided I have to take over the kingdom and rule my world b/c I can't trust anyone else to do it with the level of integrity I demand.
