I'm a Heartless Bitch because wimpy, whiny "oh pity me, my child is autistic" people really annoy me. So your child is a bit more work than you expected. Deal with it. It's not an opportunity to mine for sympathy. It's a chance to overcome and learn more about the world and yourself than most people ever get.

A word of explanation, if you please. I am the mother of a 21y/o autistic daughter who has broken the mold, so to speak. As the mother of this wonder (Google "Katie Wallace, homecoming queen) I frequently deal with whiny parents, moms in particular, who prefer to view this as a hardship instead of the opportunity it truly is. I really, really hate whiny parents who use their child as an opportunity to have people feel sorry for them. I celebrate my daughter's autism. It means she never has to feel the need to apologize for being herself.
