I suddenly realised (yes, in an epiphany) last year that I should stop telling lies on daily basis. This is the best thing I've ever done with my life.

I had to change my job because I could no longer pretend I liked it. Result. I'm back at school and it's incredible!

I saw another man and simply told my long-term boyfriend that I was seeing another man. Both men immediately sprang into action- nothing like a little competition to occupy their minds... sex got a whole lot better all of a sudden.

And best of all I stopped lying to my friends. If they should dump him, I tell them. If they look stupid, I say 'change your clothes at once, you're not leaving the house looking like that.' And when they mess up the kitchen they hear about it- they don't always do anything about it but they definitely hear about it.

I've still got some way to go, but telling the truth to me is inextricably linked to asserting myself as a person. I still think about other people's feelings (occasionally). I just think of mine first.
