I am a Heartless Bitch for many superb reasons. First of all, I pride
myself on being very independent, headstrong, outspoken and
articulate which a lot of young girls (and boys) my age are intimidated by. I
certainly don't believe in dumbing down, shutting up and going along blindly
with the status quo.
I am NOT afraid to be smart or be me. Unfortunately, in my sixteen years,
I've realized that there are some members in society who do not appreciate these
strong character traits in young girls or women. In Grade 6, my teacher had the
audacity to ask my parents if they could get me to 'tone' down a bit in the
classroom, because I used advanced vocabulary for my age in class discussions
and she felt I needed to be brought down more to the level of my other
peers. Now, in my opinion, if I had been a boy she would have never dared
to make such a comment. I know this because there was another very intelligent
gentleman in my class who she ALWAYS encouraged to be outspoken and share
his wealth of knowledge with the others. This experience has only made me
stronger and fiercer as a woman AND a person, determined not to let anyone
silence me or quash my obvious capabilities and strengths.
It's my aggressiveness and drive to succeed that some people just can't
stand. It's my will to make it in this world through my own blood, sweat, tears
and hard work. I hate it when others look at my high grades with envy because
they just can't accept the fact that I worked hard to get them and they need to
too if they want to do just as well.
I have zero tolerance for laziness, lack of ambition, or people who
complain about getting the same results over and over again and do absolutely
NOTHING to change it. I call people out on their foolishness and tell the truth
because I know it actually helps in the end. I've been called a Bitch before. If
my assertiveness, no-nonsense attitude, confidence or independence means I'm
a Bitch, so be it. To gain respect and make it in life, you've GOT to be a
Bitch, so I take it as a compliment knowing I'm well on my way to being an
accomplished woman of status.
