I've been criticized for many different things over the years, including being too straight-forward, too sarcastic, not suffering fools gladly and not being girly enough.

As an expat it's been interesting trying to fit into a society with strong gender roles that I refuse to recognize. This is why my ex-husband's favorite refrain of, "You always go deliberately out of your way to humiliate me in front of the neighbors!" (usually uttered whenever I did a chore that was supposed to be "a man's job") tops the list of most ridiculous complaints ever received. What do I care what the neighbors think?
