I have no tolerance for pretentious, self-absorbed fools who feel compelled to tell me, in excruciating detail and with tortured syntax, the entire story of their mediocre lives and then act as if I should hang on their every word because their story is so unique and fascinating when it is anything but. I will listen to long, rambling stories only if they are told not to impress but to reminisce, and only if told by sweet smiling people in their eighties or nineties who ask nothing more than a smile in return and an ear that will listen. To the rest of you, my demand is simple: "Tell me what you have to say in three well-articulated sentences or less, or say nothing at all!"
