I take total joy in my independence. I love living alone, I love the satisfaction of creating financial security for myself (from an undervalued and underpaid profession, but that's a rant for another day). I love having casual, exciting sex that doesn't have to become anything more than that. The thrill of planning my future for ME, with no voice in the back of my head saying 'but how will you find a husband? when will you have children?' (well, as long as I don't answer the phone to my mum) is so incredibly liberating. I can never understand why a woman would not want to look around her and say: 'I did this on my own. It's all MINE.'

And that disturbs my family. It disturbs my friends. It disturbs people I work with and people I don't even really know. It especially disturbs men. I love it!

I've been told 'You're not like that. You're not the sort of girl to only want sex' after dumping a bloke after two dates and one night of mediocre-at-best sex. Sweetheart, I'm *exactly* like that. Me saying 'I don't want anything serious' should not be translated in your silly fat head as 'I don't really mean that. Please pursue me relentlessly until I break down and admit I have feelings for you, at which point you can feel you have succeeded and head for the hills'
