I don't let being raised in an intolerable situation be an excuse for my or anyone else's fucked-up behavior. I think almost all of us have a choice about how we act and react in life despite our circumstances, and have a difficult time tolerating self-perpetuating victim-hood. This isn't to say I'm not compassionate, but rather that I expect people to grow from their circumstances rather than be dragged around by their own lives. I moved on in life in order to get away from my ghosts, not to have a nicer place to host dinner parties for them. This isn't to say that I never have to deal with the bad stuff...but rather that I deal with it and move on!

I've worked very hard for the things I have gained, including an education I'd always wanted, an adventurous life I'd always dreamed of, peace of mind and a world of honesty, independence and good health.

I enjoy working with people who don't have a problem telling me what they expect from me up front, and I always return the favor. I have no remorse in letting people go who can't accomplish even this much. Life is too short to put up with bullshit.
